Day 2 - Arches

Day 2 we drove to Arches and had a great day.  It was hot, but it also rained some and cooled off.  Andrew had a severe case of allergies to something, and was quite miserable.  I was hiking with an ankle that was only about 50% healed, so I was slower than my usual slow.  Arches is a beautiful park!

Violet's favorite mode of hiking.

Balancing Rock

I think this is either North Window or South Window - can't remember.

Tuckered out!

It wouldn't be a family vacation without whining!

The kids liked collecting Junior Ranger badges from each park we visited.

Delicate Arch - from a distance

They look so happy...

Hiking to Landscape Arch

Landscape Arch - pretty cool in person, but it blends in on a photo.

Resting my poor ankle.

Sand angels!

We saw a few little bunnies!

Family Vacation Day 1 - Goblin Valley and Dead Horse Point

In July we had 2 weeks where the boys were out of school, so we decided to take a vacation through south-eastern Utah and parts of Colorado.  There was a lot of driving and hiking, and spectacular scenery.  We live in a beautiful state!  The first day we drove down to Goblin Valley.  The kids loved this place!  It was overcast and cool, which made it perfect for exploring.

On the road!

After exploring Goblin Valley, we drove down to Green River, Utah for dinner by the river. We had Subway sandwiches.

Then we drove some more to Dead Horse Point.  We got there around dusk, and it was beautiful!  Such spectacular views!  The drop-offs were a little scary, but the walkway was constructed pretty far back from the edges so it felt pretty safe.

We stayed at Dead Horse Point in a little Yurt.  It was so fun!  The kids loved it.  We were hoping to do some star-gazing, but it was too cloudy.

We did get to roast some marshmallows over the grill outside.  Yum!
