Visiting Santa

On December 15th we went over to RC Willey to see Santa.  It was free and indoors, and there was no line at all.  It was great.  And being only 5 minutes from our house it was super convenient.

Jorgen brought his super-long list.

Santa told him to put it in the mailbox, so he did.

Violet was okay.

Until I took her binky out to see if she would smile.  No way!

Andrew & Santa

Bethany looks too big for Santa's lap.

Violet didn't like Santa much, but she loved the candy cane!  She got all sticky.

Andrew's Wolf

Andrew earned his Wolf Badge recently in Cub Scouts.  Here we are at pack meeting.  He has really enjoyed scouts this year and has been eager to pass off as many requirements as possible.  I am very proud of him!

They made Christmas trees out of ice-cream cones, frosting, and sprinkles.  Easy and fun.

Violet with Grandma Nay.  Grandma and Grandpa came to see Andrew get his award.

Bethany usually has Girl Scouts the same night as pack meeting, so she isn't in any pictures.

Bluff Ridge Christmas Concert

Andrew and Bethany had a Christmas Concert with their elementary school.  Since they are both involved with Drama Club, and Bethany in Show Choir, they were both very busy!  Bethany got to sing 7-8 songs, either with Show Choir, 5th graders, or the whole school.  She also had a short speaking part.  Andrew got to do a short speaking part as well, plus sing the 3rd grade and whole-school songs.  It was well done and cute.

This is what Violet thought of the whole thing.

How did we keep Jorgen entertained?  A new coloring book and some M&Ms did the trick.

Between songs, this was Andrew's seat - behind the piano.  Can you see his blue tie?

Markers

One day I was working on the computer and had set Violet down with a few toys behind me.  I didn't notice the box of markers there until she started emptying it.  Luckily she can't open them yet!  She loves to empty things, anything filled with something else, and prefers non-toys over toys.

Christmas Cuties

The kids were all dressed up for church one Sunday, and I thought they looked so cute.  So I took some pictures.

Decorating the Christmas Tree

Once the tree was up, the kids pretty much did the rest themselves.  They did a pretty good job too!

Violet's first Christmas tree

We were setting up our Christmas tree and Violet was mesmerized by the lights.  She backed right up into the tree (her mode of transportation these days is scooting herself backwards).  So far she has been pretty good with the trees (we have 2) and it still hasn't enticed her to crawl forwards yet.

Braces Off!

I thought this day would never come!  I finally got my braces off, after almost 2 years of wearing them.  My gums were soooo sore for the first 2 days, but then I felt much better and I love having straight teeth.  The retainer was an adjustment getting used to, but it is clear so you can hardly see it at all.  We are taking a year off from orthodontia payments before Bethany gets to start her turn.

Jorgen's Nativity

We have a little wooden nativity set that the kids can play with, and Jorgen set it up one day and made me take a picture.

Cheerios

I introduced Violet to Cheerios one day, and she loved them!  She figured out how to mash them up with her toothless gums pretty quickly.  Now she refuses to eat anything mushy or on a spoon.  She has recently tried such things as bananas, green peas, peaches, pears, apricots, Chex cereal, and butternut squash.  As long as they are cooked soft and diced small, she is pretty good at scooping it up with her hand and getting it into her mouth.  Of course, an equal amount ends up in her seat, and on the floor, but she is still cute.
