5th Grade Science Fair

February 13 - Bethany participated in the 5th Grade Science Fair this year.  Her project was "Eyes vs. Taste Buds."  She wanted to see if the color of something we eat or drink affects how we perceive the taste.  She used 100% apple juice and colored 2 of the 3 bottles with food coloring.  Then had people sample the different colored juices and write down what flavor they thought the juice was.  It was interesting to see how many different responses people gave.

Later that evening we went back and looked at all of the projects on display.  It was fun to see all of the different projects the kids came up with.

Dan's Birthday

February 7 was Dan's birthday.  The kids wanted to make him a candy-bar poster, so we headed to the store and found a bunch of candy bars and put it together.  We also made him a money tree with $38.00 on it (for his 38 years).  The kids thought it was pretty funny that we had to get the cash out of his bank account to make the money tree.  It was cute, though.  I gave him tickets for a couple of dates coming up, one on Saturday and one in June near our anniversary.  I didn't get much else done because we've had sick kids all week and I didn't get out of the house much.

The Daddy-Daughter Dance was the same night as Dan's birthday, so he and Bethany went and had a good time.

When they got back we had birthday cake (cheesecake actually, and it turned out funny but still tasted good.)

Fun in the Snow

We've had a lot of snow lately!  The kids have had fun while off-track just playing all day in the snow.  Until their finger and ears get frozen, then they come in for hot cocoa.

She was showing me her "penguin slide."

Andrew was digging a cave.

This shows how big the piles are.  They are actually melted quite a bit from the last storm.

Damon's Baptism

My nephew Damon was baptized on February 2nd in Logan.  I love going to baptisms and his was great.

Afterwards, we went over to his house for lunch, and Bethany used the family as her test subjects for her science fair project.  I'll post more about this again later, but here she is doing her test on her brothers:

School Valentines

Since we were going off-track, the kids had their Valentine's parties on February 1st.  Both Andrew and Bethany wanted to be creative and make their own valentines this year.  They did most of the work themselves and I thought they turned out really cute.

Andrew made robot Valentines and a Spiderman box, with a string "web" on the top.

Bethany made these cute "mice to know you" valentines.

She made her box with duct tape.
