Birthday Party

Jorgen turned 7 on November 6th.  He was excited to have a friend party this year.  We decided to do it at Sky Trampoline in Layton.  It was great!  The boys loved being able to jump and run around.  They jumped for 1 1/2 hours, then we had pizza, cupcakes, and presents.  Super easy and lots of fun!

Broken Arm

October 20 - I was teaching piano lessons, and Andrew had gone to soccer practice.  Just about 30 minutes after he left, the mom that carpools with us brought him back home - I guessed they ended practice early?  But when he came inside he was crying pretty bad and had hurt his arm/wrist.  I guess he had tripped on the ball and fallen backwards, and landed with his full body weight on his wrist.  He was pretty miserable.  So I left Bethany in charge and took Andrew to the Instacare in Layton.  They got him back pretty fast, and did some X-rays (which were NOT fun!).  It was definitely broken.  So he got a splint put on and we were supposed to come back in a few days for a cast.

Because of the broken arm, Andrew had to miss his last soccer game of the fall season.  He came and watched Jorgen play in his last game.

Violet was doing yoga on the sidelines.

So we were referred to a orthopedic specialist to get the cast put on.  Luckily we were off-track at the time.  I had to drive clear to North Ogden to see this doctor, because he didn't have any openings at the Layton clinic that week.  When he looked at the X-rays, he said that Andrew's growth plate was out of alignment and he needed to have it realigned at the hospital, under anesthesia, and he needed to get it done ASAP, before any more re-growth occurred.  I called Dan, and he came home early from work so he could take Andrew to the hospital.  That way I wouldn't have to cancel piano lessons right before a recital.  They left at about 4:30 and didn't get back home until 10:30.  The procedure itself only took about 30 minutes, there was just a lot of waiting around.  After that ordeal, he ended up with a bright red cast that went up above his elbow.  He got to skip out of Ensemble federation, and also missed the Halloween recital.  He's been practicing the left hand part of "Linus and Lucy" for the Christmas recital, and he can even kind of play the right hand too.  If all goes well, he will get the cast off on December 4th.

Teenager in the House!

Bethany turned 13 on October 18th.  It's hard to believe how fast time goes by!  She had banana brownie waffles for her birthday breakfast.  We opened presents and had birthday cake at lunch (it was a Saturday, and also Fall Break).  Later that night she had a Halloween themed party with some of her friends.

Violet loved putting candles in her piece of cake.

Here are some pictures from the party.  I was a little worried about throwing a party for teenagers.  I thought they would think it was dumb.  But Bethany planned all the activities and food, and it turned out lots of fun.  Even teenagers like birthday parties :)  But Bethany agreed with me that she is probably too old for more parties.
