Here are some pictures of Violet taken at the hospital by a professional photographer.  They turned out way cute.  I can't pick a favorite cause they are all so good.

Meet Violet Elise Nay

We welcomed our little girl, Violet Elise Nay, to our family!  She was born April 21, 2012 at 4:52 am; she weighed 6 lbs 15 oz. and was 20 inches long.  She is a cute little thing and we already love her to pieces.  Here is a brief timeline of what happened.

Thursday night (April 19) - Earlier that day I had my weekly appointment.  That whole afternoon and evening after the appointment I felt crampy and not very good.  Later that night, after putting the kids to bed, I started timing contractions.  I get a lot of Braxton Hicks for the last trimester every time.  They were coming about every 15 minutes, but sometimes closer.  Still pretty irregular though.  So we packed a bag and then went to bed.  I figured if they got worse I would wake up Dan and tell him, and if they went away I could get some sleep.  Well I didn't sleep much, but they did slow down by morning, so we stayed home.  Friday we got a whole bunch of stuff done that we had put off, like setting up the nursery, laundry, packing for the kids, etc.  Dan stayed home from work just in case.  But the contractions were 20-30 minutes apart like they had been for weeks.
Thursday night - we almost went in, but didn't
So Friday evening Andrew had pack meeting.  He earned his Bobcat award.  I felt fine, for the most part.  I was glad we didn't miss his award.

Then Friday night, after we put the kids to bed, we watched a movie.  About halfway through the movie, I noticed the contractions picking up again.  This time they were 5 minutes apart - the real deal!  So we hurried and got the kids out of bed and drove them to my mom's house on the way to the hospital.  We checked in at McKay Dee around 1:30 am and, long story short, she was born just over 3 hours later at 4:52am.  My fastest labor yet.  It took awhile for the epidural to actually work (again), so it was also the most painful of all my labors.   We picked the name Violet Elise Nay.  Violet was not even on our list, but last week Andrew mentioned it and everyone liked it.  Some of our other names on our list, at least one person in the family didn't like.  So Violet was it.  She is perfect!  Such a sweet little baby.  She is very calm and quiet, for a baby.  The only thing she really cries about is diaper changes.  Here are a bunch of pictures:

She was born quite early in the morning, so later that day Dan was able to sneek back home and take the kids to their piano recital (for another teacher).  I know, maybe they should have just skipped it, but it worked out okay and Dan said they played well.

Girl Scouts Awards Luncheon

So awhile back I posted about Bethany working on her Bronze Award for Girl Scouts, where she made a bunch of fleece blankets. Yesterday they had an awards ceremony for the girls who earned the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, plus scholarships and other awards. Bronze is basically the highest she can earn as a Junior Girl Scout (4th & 5th grade). The luncheon was at the Salt Lake Hilton and was really nice.

I think this is the fanciest meal Bethany has ever eaten. She actually tried the salad and liked it (amazingly - she is not a salad fan). All the food was yummy and the awards portion went fairly quickly considering how many they had to go through. Brooke Walker from KSL TV was the MC and she kept it moving. It was nice to spend some time with Bethany and we are proud of her for getting her Bronze Award!

All tuckered out

The other day Jorgen was in a bad mood and refused to eat his dinner. Instead he went and fell asleep on the rocker. He was pretty tired, I guess, except when Dan tried to take him to his bed he totally flipped out that he wasn't tired and wanted to eat dinner.

What we did on Easter

Andrew woke up Easter morning with a fever, stomachache, headache, and sore throat. So he and I stayed home from church. I kind of forgot about taking pictures of Easter baskets and kids in their Easter clothes. Andrew watched a couple of church movies, then spent the rest of the time finishing his X-wing fighter. He's been working on it for awhile and he finally finished.

Andrew's Baptism Pictures

We took Andrew to get some portraits done and they turned out pretty nice. He sure is a handsome guy. I love his eyes, they melt my heart :)
