Performance Class

I have group classes a few times a year that I call Performance Class.  The last class of the school year is always a party of some sort with games and treats.  This year we did the theme of "Piano Olympics," where the students could earn medals based on their efforts in five different areas, like practicing, technique, etc.  Last week we had our "Closing Ceremonies" and handed out all the medals and the winners' prizes.  Then we played some games outside, then had popsicles.  It was a fun way to end the school year.  At least, I hope they had fun!

Monday class - all boys!  And very noisy :)

Tuesday class - missing 3 students.  This is the "teens" class.
I only remembered to take pictures of the games on Tuesday.  The first game was kind of like Twister, but they had to spell a word on the giant staff I drew on the driveway.

Soccer relay - going around the order of sharps and flats.

Bean bag toss - they had to say how many counts each bowl was worth to get the points.

Popsicles!

Wednesday class - all girls!

More popsicles!

Last Day of Soccer

May 17th was our last day of Spring Soccer.  It was finally not freezing cold - in fact, it was really hot!  It was a gorgeous day.  Later that day, Bethany and Andrew had a piano recital, which I didn't get any pictures of.  I have videos but can't get them to post correctly on here.  So you will just have to imagine it.

Bethany's Mongolia Report

May 16 - In sixth grade the kids get to do a country report.  Bethany chose to do Mongolia!  Her teacher said she has never had anyone pick Mongolia before :)  Bethany worked really hard and put together a great report.  She did a written report, a travel brochure, a flag, several maps, and an oral report.  She wanted to serve Mongolian Cake as a sample of the food there.  It's a good thing I tried to make a practice run a few days earlier, because my conversions must have been wrong and it turned out dry and almost crunchy.  It was okay, but my family didn't really eat any seconds of it, so it wasn't too great.  The second time around, I made them smaller and changed a couple of the ingredient proportions, and I also lowered the temperature of the oven and decreased the cooking time.  It turned out much better.  The kids in Bethany's class liked it, so I guess it turned out okay.  I went to watch her give her oral report, but Violet was being so disruptive I had to take her out, so I only got a couple of pictures.  Violet wanted to run through the halls screaming joyously.  I didn't think the other teachers would appreciate that...

This is a few days later - I had Bethany pose for a picture with her visual aids.

She did a fantastic job.  THANK YOU Grandma and Grandpa Nay for your invaluable help!  Your blog was perfect and has so much good information about the people and the culture.  Thank you Thank you!

Mother's Day 2014

Mother's Day was good this year.  I got to spend the day with my family, and at church.  Dan had to give a talk, and I had to teach a Primary lesson.  Later that day we got to Skype with Dan's parents in Mongolia (we get to do this every Sunday actually).  I tried to get a picture with my kids, but they were being silly.

The day before, we went to visit my mom and wish her a happy Mother's Day too.  I don't remember why he is so mad, but Jorgen wanted to punch me.  He has anger issues...

Spring Recital - May 5, 2014

I can't figure out what I did here, but these are supposed to be videos of the kids playing their recital pieces.  Sorry it didn't work.

New Babies

May 4 - We went up to Brigham City for the baby blessing for our new nephew James, son of Joe & Kandice.  They are living in Grandma and Grandpa Nay's house while they are on their mission.  It was fun getting together with family and of course meeting baby James.  He is a cutie!

Emmaline, Abigail, and Violet.  The table is just their size!  I can see these three being good friends :)

The "boy" table (plus Bethany, Richard and Julie)

Baby James and his Daddy

Violet loved this car!

She found the Barbie house.

Then we drove up to Wellsville to visit Sam and Jessica and their new baby Liam.  He was just a few days old and so tiny!  Super cute though!

We brought a picnic dinner, so we stopped at Pioneer Park in Brigham on the way home to eat and play.

I didn't mean to, but this picture was taken right as Violet lost her balance and fell.  I thought she would skin her knees and cry, but she just jumped up and looked fine.
