2nd Grade Program

Bethany had her 2nd grade program this week. It was really cute and they did a great job. The theme was "Best Friends" and they had a lot of cute songs. I couldn't believe how loud they all sang. Bethany was excited to sing in front of the microphone and to do the dance.

This one is hard to make out but she is dancing with streamers, second from the right in the pink/purple tye dye.

My crazy monkey boys.

A "Grand" Getaway

Last weekend we went on a belated anniversary over-night date. Dan's parents graciously offered to watch the kids for a weekend, so we took them up on the offer. Dan found a deal for less than half-price on the smallest room at the Grand America so we decided to go there. I am wondering what their bigger rooms are like because this room was amazing and huge - 700 square feet!
.
Friday night we went to "The Wedding Singer" at Hale Center Theatre and it was a lot of fun. Then Saturday we had the AMAZING breakfast buffet and stuffed ourselves. Then we did some shopping and caught a movie at Gateway, where they were having a chalk art festival. It was fun to have a short little getaway and relax for a little while anyway.
.
This was our cute little gift in our room - a chocolate grand piano! It was almost too cute to eat. Almost.

What We've Been Up To

The last couple of weeks have been jam-packed with activities and places to go. Here are a few highlights of what we've been doing.

Girl Scout Cookie Party

Bethany sold enough cookies to earn an invitation to the cookie party. It was held at the fairgrounds in Farmington. It was fun but crowded and hot. She also sold enough to pay for about half of her camp in August. So, if you bought cookies from Bethany, then thank you!

Eating lunch

Check out Andrew's ballpoint pen tattoo:

Jorgen having a tantrum

Cookies make it all better :)

Bouncy slides. Jorgen was scared of them.

Kindergarten Program
Andrew had his class program and did a great job. We were 2 minutes late, running there from baseball, and he missed his turn to say what he can do. I felt like a loser mom that day. He told me afterwards that he was going to say "I can do science experiments." The songs and slide show were cute.
Andrew and Mrs. Adams - the best teacher at Bluff Ridge!

Dance Recital
Bethany had her dance recital and did a great job. She has decided she doens't want to do dance anymore, however. She told me she doesn't like the immodest costumes. She sure is a sweetheart and wants to do what is right. So, no more dance.

The boys were BORED during the recital so they went out to run around in the commons area. This was my first time inside Syracuse High. It's very nice. It looks just like the new Davis High (not the old one I went to). Too bad we won't be going there.

Andrew has Jorgen in a headlock. This is normal behavior, or so I'm told, for brothers. I only had one brother, and he would be in big trouble doing this to one of his sisters. These two guys do this ALL THE TIME.

2nd Grade Field Trip
I was able to go with Bethany and her class to Hogle Zoo for a field trip. It was lots of fun. Thanks, Mom, for watching the boys so I could spend a day with Bethany.

Waiting for the Bird Show to start. They had to do a Zoo Scavenger Hunt and the bird show was on the list. It was pretty fun. About the same as it has been before. Bethany and her friend Taylor were in my group of 2 - along with Taylor's dad. Easy peasy.

Riding the Carousel

Bats, eww!

They had to finish their ice cream before they could get back on the bus.

Finger Painting
Here's a good recipe for finger paint: a stack of Oreo's, a glass of milk, one distracted mommy, and one precocious toddler.

Last Baseball Games
Tuesday was our last day of baseball/T-ball. Both kids had fun and they both say they want to do it again next year. We lost Andrew's first mitt and had to buy him a new one. Then on Tuesday we couldn't find his hat. Still haven't found it, but T-ball is over so I guess it's okay. I feel like I am losing my mind somedays.
My kids are definitely not athletes, but they had fun and learned a little bit of the game anyway. Isn't that what it's about at this age? I think so.

Wheeler Farm Field Trip

I was able to go with Andrew's Kindergarten class to Wheeler Farm for a field trip last Thursday, June 3rd. We had a great time. Andrew was soooo excited to ride a school bus!

Our tour guide was a nice lady named Tina.

Feeding the ducks. The very aggressive ducks.

We saw this cool tree that had been struck by lightning but kept growing. Tina let the kids climb the tree.

Andrew is thinking, "Mom never lets me climb trees!"

Trying to get a group shot of our group

A donkey named Polka-Dot

Resting in the milking barn with Annalee. Andrew was dissapointed that he didn't get to actually milk a cow. You have to go back at 5:00 to do that.

Tractor-pulled wagon ride.

Sleepy piggies

Climbing in the playhouse

Watching a girl spin wool into yarn. This was quite mesmerizing.

Inspecting the outhouse

The four kids I was in charge of, plus a couple extra.

The whole gang. Mrs. Adams' morning and afternoon classes. Mrs. Swan (on the left) is the student teacher.

Getting back on the bus. Later that night I asked Andrew what his favorite part of the field trip was, and without hesitation he answered, "the bus!"

Andrew found some feathers

Back at school, eating lunch.
Mmmm, peanut butter. A staple in Andrew's diet.

Thanks for letting me tag along, bud.
