Wedding Photos - Joe & Kandice Nay

Yesterday we had the opportunity to attend the wedding of Dan's brother Joe and his bride Kandice. It was a beautiful wedding. The weather was cold but sunny (no snowstorms!) After trying to find a parking spot for over half-an-hour the rest of the day went smoothly.

The sealing was awesome. I love going to temple sealings. It's a great reminder of my own wedding day. The sealer gave some really good advice and instruction to Joe & Kandice (and everyone). I love the spirit that is there in the temple - it is indescribable. It's been about 4 years since I've been to a sealing - I think Debbie's was the last one in 2004. So it was a good reminder of the covenants and promises that are made in the temple.

Joe and Kandice both were glowing with happiness, literally! It was neat to see. We are so happy for you guys!

Here we are waiting for the couple to come out:

Andrew was cold the whole time (he's always cold, like me)

The happy couple!

They really liked posing for the kissing pictures

Big hug from Stephanie!

Joe's (and Dan's) parents

These next two photos probably looked better on the photographer's camera, but you get the idea. It was pretty cute.

Bethany almost cried when we picked her up from the youth room. She was sad that she missed the wedding. I thought I had explained to her, more than once, that the kids don't get to go inside the temple, they wait in the waiting room. I guess she didn't really get it. She was pretty upset. I felt bad for her, she had her heart set on seeing the wedding.

I left Jorgen at my mom's while we went to the temple, because he was battling a cold and would have had a miserable time out in the cold. So we picked him up after the temple, stopped at home for a quick break, then headed to Brigham City for the wedding dinner at Maddox.

Jorgen was glad to join the party, finally!

Bethany loved the punch - she had 3 or 4 glasses. Andrew loved the rolls (who doesn't?)

Aren't they just the cutest couple?

Whenever I try to get candid photos, they have to go and pose for me. At least they smiled.

It was a fun and busy day. They decided not to have a reception, so we were all done by 6:00! So we went home and tried to get to bed early. Bethany and Andrew were in bed by 8:00, but then Jorgen, who had been put to bed at 7:30, woke up at 8:30 and was up for 2 more hours. It's hard to sleep when you can't breathe! I hope he kicks this cold soon.

Joe is the youngest, and last to get married, of the 6 kids in Dan's family. My siblings are all married, too, so I guess we are done with weddings now for awhile.

Family Home Evening Activity

For FHE tonight we had a lesson on temples, since tomorrow we'll be going to Joe & Kandice's wedding. Bethany wanted to make temples for our activity, so we got out the paper, tape, crayons, and scissors and got to work. Left to right is mine, Dan's, Bethany's, and Andrew's. The boys wanted to draw temples, and Bethany and I made 3-D versions. It was pretty fun.

Nay Christmas Party

We started the day Saturday by trying to frost the rest of the cookies. This is the same batch of cookies we started on Christmas Eve. I can't believe how many cookies we ended up with! We gave a whole bunch away and still ended up with 5 paper plates full of frosted cookies and 2 ziploc bags with unfrosted cookies (we ran out of frosting). We had sprinkles everywhere! Dan said he even dreamed that he had sprinkles in his teeth. It took a while to vacuum up. The kids had fun, though.

Then we headed to Brigham City for our Nay Family Christmas Party. The roads were really bad so it took longer to get there than we planned. We passed 3 accidents on the way, luckily no one we knew. As soon as we got to Brigham, we all got back in the cars and headed to the bowling alley for some fun.

Here is Jessica holding Jorgen and Dominic sitting on the table:

I really suck at bowling. If it wasn't for those bumpers I would have had a really bad game.

Bethany liked the pink ball and the pink ramp:

Andrew ended up winning our game. He got three strikes in a row! He put a nice spin to his ball, even just on the ramps.

Dan is about as good at bowling as I am.

Jorgen really wanted to play with the bowling balls but they are too heavy. He tried to push it back and forth with Dominic, but it was kind of hard for such little guys to push.

Joe was helping John bowl:

Go Grandpa!

Sam and Andrew

After bowling we stopped at Grandma's church to take some pictures. Everyone from Grandma and Grandpa Nay's family was there. The pictures of everyone are on Sam's camera (send us a picture, please Sam!). Here are some pictures of all the grandkids.

Jorgen wanted DOWN!

Then we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house for a yummy dinner and presents! Everyone gave a lot of nice things!

Jorgen's favorite was the batteries.

When Bethany opened the ream of paper she said, "This is exactly what I wanted!" She goes through so much paper we tease her that we should get her some paper of her own. Now she has some!

Bethany and Maurianna playing Barbies. I overheard Bethany tell Mauri "I wish we were sisters." They love playing together. Mauri lives in Southern Utah, so we only see her a couple times a year.

Megan loved sitting in the Barbie chair. She even posed for the camera!

It was a fun day! It was good to see everyone. The roads were much better going home, I guess they finally decided plowing would be a good idea. Tomorrow we'll all get together again for Joe & Kandice's wedding!

Christmas 2008

Christmas Eve

Making cookies for Santa. We made Gingerbread and Sugar cookies.

Jorgen does NOT like hats of any kind. Unless he is putting them on mom for peek-a-boo.

We decided to start a new tradition of having a candlelight dinner on Christmas Eve. The kids thought it was pretty cool.

Putting out cookies and carrots for Santa and his reindeer. Do you love the typed note? Bethany typed it.

Acting out the Nativity. Dan was the donkey/shepherd/wiseman. He's very versitile. I was the narrator/angel. Bethany was Mary and Andrew was Joseph.

Last year, Jorgen made the perfect baby Jesus - he was less than 2 months old and didn't put up a fuss. This year, Jorgen is a moving wiggle monster, plus he got tired and went to bed before we got to this, so we used Andrew's baby doll "David." (you can't use a girl doll!)
Dan and I still had some things to finish up before we finally stumbled to bed around 12:30. We tried to be good and get all the wrapping done before Christmas Eve, but there was still some to do (thank goodness not all of it, though!)

Christmas Day:

Christmas morning, I heard the kids around 6:30 whispering excitedly to each other about all the stuff they could see. They didn't come and wake us up until 7:00. I guess they were trying to let us sleep in? They were really excited! We had to wake up Jorgen around 7:30 because I told Bethany and Andrew we couldn't open presents till everyone was awake and they were getting very impatient.

There wasn't enough room under the tree so Santa had to put his presents in front.

Andrew really wanted a scooter, and Santa delivered!

Bethany wanted an American Girl doll: Santa gave her a different version, made especially at his workshop for a lot less money than the AG dolls! She said it was even better because it came with two outfits instead of one and tons of accessories.

Jorgen didn't really ask for anything, and he loved all of his presents. His favorite is the Tonka Speedway, which for some reason I don't have a picture of. I'll have to get a video of him playing with it so you can see him squeal with joy.

The kids shopped for each other and Mom & Dad at the dollar stores with their own money. Andrew got Dad some antlers - very stylish!

Of course we all got new Christmas pajamas. It was hard to get a good picture because they were so wiggly.

I really didn't want to put this picture in because I look awful, but there aren't many of me and you can see my lovely silk and cashmere pjs - I sure am spoiled. They are super comfy and warm!

Playing doctor with their new doctor kit:
I should have more pictures, but we were having too much fun with our new toys (you know, getting them out of the packages, finding batteries, figure out assembly, all the fun things parents get to do on Christmas). So, I don't have a lot of pictures.

After lunch we went to my parents for a nice dinner. My family had Thanksgiving all together, so for Christmas my siblings all headed to in-laws. But Dan's family is getting together on Saturday instead of Christmas Day, so we did Christmas mostly on our own this year. It was kind of nice to have it not so rushed. We just did our own thing and started some new traditions of our own.

Playing at Grandma's house:

Jorgen was fascinated with Grandpa's new book light. He kept turning it on and off, and shining it in his face, and flipping it around.
We left my parents' home around 7:00 and by this time is was snowing very heavily. It was just windy most of the day, but the storm finally hit. It was a slippery and slow drive home, just from Kaysville to Syracuse, but it seemed a lot farther in that kind of weather.

The kids wanted to sleep under the Christmas tree, so we let them Christmas night. They were tired enough that they fell asleep pretty quickly and slept all night. They didn't even flinch when I took this picture. They were so cute.

We had a great Christmas and are so blessed. I wish my kids could realize how blessed they are! I love this time of year when people think of someone besides themselves and focus more on what really matters. I love the spirit of Christmas and focusing on the birth of our Savior. He is the greatest gift we have ever been given.

Merry Christmas to everyone!
