Joyschool Valentine's Party

Jorgen's Joyschool had a Valentine's party yesterday. I went to help with a game. Unfortunately, I didn't remember to take any pictures until after the meltdown. Jorgen was upset that I wasn't helping him (and ONLY him) with the bingo game, and started screaming so loud. He would not stop. I had to drag him to another room (since he is too heavy for me to carry with my big belly) to calm down. He finally agreed to come back and listen to stories, but instead of listening just plopped on the floor and pouted.

Jorgen pouting:

All the other kids listening to the story:

I tried to get a picture of the cute frog bag he made, but he wouldn't have it. So I got a blur of a grumpy kid. What a goober!

Silly Boys

Valentine's Day

We had a nice Valentine's Day, filled with sweet treats, pretty flowers, and thoughtful gifts. I meant to get pics of the kids with their loot but didn't somehow.

I am a lucky woman to have a husband who likes to buy me flowers. They always brighten my day! :) I thought these were beautiful.

Blue and Gold Banquet

Andrew has been so excited to start Cub Scouts soon. He got to go to the Blue and Gold Banquet this year, as one of the "soon-to-be" Cub Scouts. We had a "banquet" of hot dogs, potato salad, chips and cupcakes. There is quite a large group of boys his age:

He looks bored, but he really was excited to be there.

Joyschool Field Trip

Jorgen's joyschool went on a little field trip to the dentist. It was short and sweet, and they seemed to like it. They got to learn about teeth, ride in a dentist chair, and get a bag full of things like toothbruses, toothpaste, floss, coloring pages, and a toy.

Dan's Birthday

2 weeks after my birthday, Feb. 7th, was Dan's birthday. Since he had to work that day, we didn't celebrate until after he got home. His presents were wrapped in Transformers paper because I forgot to buy birthday paper. All I had in the house was girly birthday, or Christmas, or Transformers. He didn't mind - he likes the movies :)

He might get mad at me for posting his age, but I like to always point out that he is older than me. :) Plus it is a blessing to get another year of life, some people don't get that blessing.

No fancy cake this year - this was a recipe from his cycling book, written by some cycling guy. It turned out pretty good. Oatmeal chocolate chip.

Mom's Birthday

I am late posting this, but oh well. Jan. 24th was my birthday. It's not quite as exciting when you are an adult, but it was still a good day. I made my own cake. The kids suggested I make a piano cake. So I baked it in 2 squares and was trying to figure out how to assemble it, when Bethany and Andrew brought me a little project they had been working on all day - a paper piano topper. It was so cute I just stuck it on top of the cake.

Dan was a sweetheart and sent me some beautiful flowers:

Opening presents after Dan got home from work:

We went to Famous Dave's for dinner. The food was really good! Bethany had earned a free kids meal there from her teacher, so that's how we picked.

After dinner, we went back home for cake time.

Jorgen thinks you can't do birthday candles with the lights on.
